A group of volunteer doctors traveled to this part of the world to work with children with urinary tract infections that local hospitals are not able to deal with.

During the summer of 2006 James Kenney traveled with IVUmed, a non-profit urology organization made up of doctors and nurses from across the country. There they worked with Evangel Hospital treating hundreds of local women with a little known problem called vesicovaginal fistula. I was the producer, James gathered all audio, video and still content.

Alexia Foundation visits WKU

Thanks to Peggy Peattie of the San Diego Union-Tribune (seen here taking a picture of herself with Peter and Aphrodite Tsairis) for spending a few days with our students. As part of the Alexia Foundation gallery and with support from the Hearst Foundation Peggy was able to share her work and ideas with photojournalism students at Western Kentucky University. She was the first professional recipient of the Alexia Foundation for working professionals.

The group was gathered for the opening of the "Eye's on the World" gallery show.

The family of Alexia Tsairis, a former Syracuse University photojournalism student and a victim of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, has established the Alexia Foundation for World Peace, Inc., a non-profit foundation. Alexia's abiding beliefs were in the capacity and responsibility of individuals to shape and advance peace in our time. The Alexia Foundation is dedicated to providing students and professionals the means to do so.

NPPA Multimedia Immersion Seminar

No art work to post with this entry but I just want to put a plug in for the National Press Photographers Association's Immersion Seminar in Multimedia that will be taking place May 27th – May 30th in Louisville, Ky. It is an intense 4 day, hands-on training in video and still multimedia presentations; attendance will be limited to 60 participants so register quickly. I will be teaching two classes in multimedia story development and multimedia production during the month of July. I was asked to go shoot some group pictures in my daughters classroom for a WKU Spirit contest. Then I was pulled in to the teachers classroom next door to shot their picture - this is where I found this feature. You never know where a feature will come from.
